Blogpost 3 - Place Essentialism (Assess this)

There are a lot of types of essentialism in this world. In this blog, the essentialism I want to focus on is the fixed views people have on Switzerland. What comes to your mind when you think of Switzerland? For me, Switzerland has always left me an impression for its mountain, lakes, unique villages. For many people, this became the identity of Switzerland. Although, Switzerland has so much more to offer than its natural landscapes. This is a very unfortunate assumption as Switzerland actually is a rich cultural and historical country. The problem with this simplified view of Switzerland is that it makes the country seem very one-dimensional.

I will mention a few unique traits of Switzerland. Switzerland's culture is actually very diverse. You can find music, unique food, and modern art in the cities. There are a lot of festivals and cultural events that are attended by international tourists and local people. Switzerland is also known as the top financial center in the world and also has a good education system.

To summarize, Switzerland is much more than its scenic landscape. Without any doubt, Switzerland has one of the most breathtaking views in the world. Although, Switzerland also has a rich and diverse culture, great contribution to the finance and education sector in the world. It is problematic to categorize Switzerland or any country as one thing because exploring a country should mean embracing its cultural richness.
